"Now you have a friend in the grading business."

ETA: I have no idea who submitted it but they got a kiss IMO.

Apparently, PSA did too. Card looks more like a 3.

Simple explanation: Rookie grader / first day on the job after getting fired at Jack-in-the-Box / first card graded. Simple!

Why didn't he "round up" the player as well and call him Bresnahan?

I have submitted roughly 1400 T206's to PSA in the past month.

I have found them to be wildly inconsistent.

I have got 1's on cards I expect 2's and 3's, and 5's on cards I expect 3's.

Default There is a wajo

Portrait in another companies holder that makes this look properly graded in my opinion. Not that it is properly graded but I think we've realized their are mistakes. I get more concerned when the card is heavily altered and receives a grade more than I am a low graded low value t206 getting a mid grade.

What Glyn said. All the SGC 5s I see with significantly rounded corners bother me more, whether it's consistent with their current standards or not.

That too, I haven't commented on it, but I have stopped grading with SGC completely because their grading standards seem to have dropped on pre-war while they remain strict on 50's-70's, where they have little to no market share in terms of 'high' prices.

Default Is Raw any Better?

They are all going to make a few mistakes for not grading the way we think they should. This one might be a grade high, who knows?

We can leave it to sellers to grade and we get stuff like this. You have to take in the whole auction to fully appreciate his grading standards.

I don't see the big issue with this card. Maybe should have been a 3, but pretty close...

Default What's happening here?

I started this thread not to question the grade, but to show something more important. The deal here is that the card isn't a PSA 4 -- it's just being sold as one. It's graded at 3.5, and as Mike Healer noted early on, the seller rounded up, from 3.5 to 4.

I get really mad when a seller intentionally misleads a potential customer. A grade of 8(MC) is not a grade of 8, though some sellers are notorious for advertising them that way. This is no better. Unless you read the card as well as the seller's line about it, you'll overpay. In this case, you'll overpay a lot.

Most eveybody on this board knows that. But the world isn't made of savvy buyers. When they're taken advantage of, like this, we'll probably lose somebody who might have enjoyed the hobby.
