Default Vintage 1977 BMX Mongoose Bike

Kind of weird, I know, but would rather sell to a forum member that would appreciate this:

Vintage BMX Mongoose Bike for Sale. I am the original owner; purchased brand new in 1977 from Plano Schwinn (now Plano Cycling and Fitness) in Plano, Texas. Stolen in 1979 and recovered in 1979. Serial number was filed by thieves when stolen. Seat was replaced with a BMX Brooks brand seat when recovered in 1979. All other components date from 1977: vintage Mongoose red frame, vintage mongoose pads (Mongoose cross pad and mongoose logo gooseneck pad), vintage stickers, pedals, reflectors, yellow handlegrips. M-60 Dale Enterprises rare yellow/gold mag wheels and vintage black ashtabula forks. Mags are in nice condition; red frame is nice and well-cared for. Stickers show some cracking from age.

The only thing not original from 1977-79 are the BMX tires, which I replaced in 2012; they are brand new condition.

Asking $625, and would prefer to sell locally in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area, as shipping would be costly (approximately $75). If interested or if you have questions, please PM me.

Thanks!

That's pretty cool. Have you asked the bike shop if they're interested in buying it? Seems like it would be a neat display in their shop considering you originally purchased it there.

Yes, I have, and as of right now, they are not interested in displaying. I keep trying. Would rather sell to someone that appreciates the old BMX bikes if possible.

Really cool item. Brings me back to the 80's and my childhood. In Indiana I would guess that we were several years behind the times but I can remember going to BMX street events that were huge in the 80's.

Agree x2! Man, that bike is old school. Although I never owned a high end BMX bike as a kid, these were the types of bikes we lusted after in our major inner-city neighborhood. I also remember Redline bikes were the shit.

Good luck with the sale. If I still had my childhood bike I don't think I'd ever be able to sell it.

Thanks for the nice comments!

Still for sale.

Would love to move the bike if someone interested is in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area (or if you are interested and have someone in the area)
