Hake’s Americana & Collectibles Auction #215 Now Online And Open For Bidding at www.hakes.com.

The auction closes July 14-16, 2015. In addition to baseball items, there are vintage collectibles in over 200 collecting categories, with over 2,600 items up for bid in total.

Hake's has been the premier source for Pop Culture and Americana since 1967 and in recent years has offered some of the rarest and most sought after baseball items including those pertaining to the Cuban and Negro Leagues, with many coming from the legendary Richard Merkin Collection. This auction we also have pin-back buttons and other items from the Paul Muchinsky Collection.

The premier pedigree offering this auction is the Martin Dihigo Collection. This is comprised of the personal baseball artifacts from the only player inducted in the Halls of Fame in America, Cuba, Mexico, Venezuela and the Dominican Republic. Considered one of the greatest players of any era, we are pleased to offer rare team photos (some signed by Dihigo), a possibly unique Mexican League broadside, and a photo album compiled by Dihigo during his 1925-26 season in both the Negro & Cuban Leagues.

The true highlight of this historic collection is his personal copy of the 1923-24 Tomas Gutierrez card album in which a near set of the 1923-24 Billiken cards have been mounted by Dihigo who also signed his name and wrote throughout the album.

I was the under bidder in last night's Hake's Auction for Martin Dihigo's childhood baseball card collection album. Wish I could have gotten it, definitely a unique piece.

Outbid in extra time on the couple of early Red Sox items I was after - no must-have's at least.

The Dihigo items seemed amazing - such a unique collection! Congrats to anyone who picked up any of them....

Was able to snag the 1906 Imperial Cabinet along with a few post cards. Went to bed high on some other postcards to onlylearn in the morning that Iwas outbid. Spirited bidding going on for the 10 minute time which lasted for hours. If anyone ever wants entertainment, then go read the way Hakes auctions close and its different on each night.
