Default right

how can someone with tons of feedback not start the bidding at 20k...he had a 10 day buy it now window so why not a 10 day bidding window starting at 20k....makes no sense....if good to be true..

i was going to buy the card..but didnt feel like going through all the ebay challenges when find out card is not what it should be...only 2 pictures as well for a 20k card...

I'd pass. I've found that people who try and get steal deals on the 1952 Topps Mantle always get burned. Plus if I am spending over 10k on a card it's gotta be centered, LOL.

Default mantle

for a mantle thats centered...but if its fake or not as represented doesnt ebay refund your money?

i know a hassle and we may be supporting the taliban when they take the payment and run but doesnt the buyer get paid back by ebay at least?

Crystal clear front, fuzzy back scan. There's your red flag.

Default ebay seller

seems the ebay seller gets good reviews...he just emailed me saying card sold and was legit whatever that means..

the card does show up on the psa registry and would be nice to email the person on the registry with the card to verify or see if theres a duplicate cert number out there... the consignor is now saying he added it to his inventry before listing the card and has since removed it.

Card sold in REA in 2012. For some reason the seller photoshopped out the missing pixel. And the back scan is DIFFERENT the REA one had a tilt the fuzzy backscan on ebay did not.

Is it likely the seller used the (photoshopped) scan of the front from the REA offering and then sent something different?

Default seller said this to me in email

Just a FYI, guy never came thru with the payment on the Mantle card. He
initiated an e- check payment last Friday and kept insisting it was Ok to
send the card. Today Paypal messages me to say it did not clear. I'm going
to see who might still have interest from the people who contacted me last
week and ask the owner if he wants to sell it outright or list it as an
auction. At this point I wish he would've just given it an auction house to
sell.

should i buy it now?

If this seller is being truthful with you, the negative feedback that was left by the buyer could easily be removed. If the seller says the buyer's e-check did not clear(essentially meaning the buyer did not pay), then ebay dictates that feedback can be removed if: "The buyer didn't pay for a purchase and an unpaid item case is recorded against the buyer."

It will take 4 days for the UPI case to be processed(once initiated), but after that, one phone call to ebay and that feedback will be removed. As this seller is an "experienced" seller whom should know all of this, it will be interesting to see if this feedback is removed within the next few days.

After all these red flags are you seriously considering this???? WHY????? This already had scam written all over it and now the feedback confirming this does not deter you and you take the scam seller's in all likelihood bullshit email at face value?

How do you know he never paid, you are taking the seller's word for it? Since you trust the seller so much (who I happen to know has been involved in at least one significant card-related lawsuit), why don't you ask him why he used a fake back scan? And why he photoshopped out the missing pixel? You do know about missing pixels right?

OH I see now you are just reporting what the seller told you. Well, I would be very skeptical...

Default swimming pools

bring down the value of the house versus sales price versus cost of the pool....mantles seem to go up.

You will never recoup the cost of a pool. When you try to sell, too many people will view a pool as an expense, and if potential buyers have children, a pool is more often viewed as a danger.

Repaint the house, modest landscaping, update the kitchen and bathroom hardware, and you can still have the '52 Mantle AND increase the value of your home!

For 20k there should be some way to do the deal in person. I did it with a 20k ebay deal not too long ago. I got a board member near where the seller was to take the guy a big pile of cash. It worked well. I have done it several times with a bit smaller amounts but on deals I wanted to be safer on. All have been fine and never an issue.

If the buyer really did not pay, feedback certainly should have been gone by now.

It sounds fishy to me. I agree with Leon for a 20k card you should be able to arrange a meeting in person. 20k + a plane ticket is still a steal for a PSA 5 52 Mantle. If he's not willing to do that you know something is wrong.
