Default 1981 STanley Cup Team Signed Islanders Stick

Hey guys,

First time posting in this section, however I was wondering if I could get some help on this item.

I was contacted by a consignor, who wants to sell this stick. He claims it is the 1981 Islanders team and his father was great friends with Sutter.

Does anyone have an approximate value for this stick?

I can't find a comp online. Maybe I am missing something?

Thanks!

Signatures look totally legit. Several questions though.
How many signatures are on this Koho 221?
Which players stick is this? The name would be stamped on the top part of the stick shaft.
I see a smudged signature, not really that important unless it's a key Islander.
The number of signatures is important. Verifying the era of course is vital.
The Koho 221 was used widely throughout the NHL in the late 70's early to mid eighties. So that's a plus.

Can the stick owners stamp be seen and posted? Plus the number of sigs on it?

I'd have a better guess if I knew that info. Thanks

I would say in the neighborhood of about $300. Others may say higher, but I'm trying to give you a realistic price. The piece looks legit and as another has said, which players stick could increase that number.

Problem with an item like that is shipping. They are tough to move around and thru the mail. Also, interest in hockey is about 1/10 that of baseball. Luckily for me I have less competition for hockey items I want. Good luck with it. Jason

I just looked at the hockey forum and I find it a little ironic that your stick is posted there with the same photos you show here. Someone on there gave a price of $350.

Duluth Eskimo is definitely right about the appraisal. More of the type of item you'd sell at a show. Ran into a guy in Westchester at a show recently trying his best to sell a Felix Potvin signed goalie stick. Sticks are difficult to sell online. If this stick belonged to say a Mike Bossy, Denis Potvin, or Bryan Trottier even, the estimate would be more. To the right buyer though you never know. It's a great item for a hockey collector, which I am, but being a lifelong NY Rangers fan, my conscience wouldn't let me even make an offer. Best of luck

I am a big Islander fan and have many autographed sticks from the 4 in a row Stanley Cup years. All of the signatures on that stick are absolutely authentic. Back then that entire team was so accommodating and would sign at practice all the time. I can verify all of the following player signatures on that stick:

Mike Bossy
Bob Nystrom
Gord Lane
Lorne Henning
Clarke Gillies
Steve Tambellini
Gary Howatt
Duane Sutter
Wayne Merrick
John Tonelli
Denis Potvin
Ken Morrow
Dave Langvin (twice - once in pen once in marker)

Can't make out the smudged one, un sure about two others.

Great item for an Islander fan - but it would be hard to sell for any real coin unless you found the right collector.
