I just picked up this E93 Mathewson and am really excited about it and wanted to share it with the board. Anyone else pick up anything recently?

OK, now I am really frustrated. I have tried multiple time to post an image on here. Finally gave up and tried Bill's suggestion of using the free links, and now that is not working either. I give up.

I would bust it out of the slab and crease it all up to make it look more loved.

They're getting a bit too expensive for 20th century cards, I think. Also an "Artistic Series" St. Louis player from Rhett. And I won the OJ Hoy, which should arrive Monday...goody.

Now I get it! Forgive me for being a little slow on the computer technology stuff. I feel like I am still trying to catch up to the 21st century.

You mean we can post about things other than raging controversies?

Then yes, I had a fine week!

Last Thursday I picked up very clean 1940 Detroit Tigers black bat from MastroNet's Classic Collector auction.

On Saturday, I won a lot of 1950-60's game used Kansas City Athletics caps (just keeping one cap I'd been looking for for two years) in Hunt's auction.

On Sunday, I won a beautiful tag/ticket from a 1925 Christy Mathewson memorial benefit game on Lelands "Fredo" auction.

And to cap it off, on Monday I won a rare 1930's Lou Gehrig stadium pinback on E-Bay.

This is usually a quiet time for my collection until the summer season starts, so I was very pleased to get so may items I'd been on the look-out for, in such a short period of time.

Earlier posted, a second printing of You Know Me Al

and while not uncommon, a T4 Obak coupon with the unanswered question (well, at least to me): if they listed 175 names, why are there so few Obak T4's of different players (some 30 from my 1998 SCD Catalogue, although I expect the list of known cards has expanded some since that long forgotten age)

The UPS guy just delivered some wooden boxes from MJ Roop. They're pretty nice. Now all I have to do is to find some nice cards to fill these boxes.

maybe as many as 5 have been added since '98, maybe less. The Weaver, for one--so gorgeous. Just a computer reproduction:

The picture is holding its own, but the background has darkened.

"Any recent losses?"

1)13 E94s in an auction fiasco I will not rehash here.
2)3 E-90-2s which I was a day late on.
3)2 E98s which I was an hour late on.
4)Sniped on a D311 Pacific Coast Biscuit after managing to outbid Mark Macrae and thinking, therefore, I was home free.
5)5 T210s in the mail today, all purchased on ebay, all with front scans only, all saying "clean cards" all failing to point out writing or stamps on the back.

All in all a crappy week. Is this the 8th Circle of Hades? Blah!

Julie

That's simply a gorgeous Buck Weaver.

My sinister intent in posting was to lure images of Vancouver and Victoria T4s into the public realm.

Someone suggested to me that the T4's were created only when a specific redemption request came in; thus, the paucity of Vancouver and Victoria players (Dashwood is the only one in the 1998 SCD)

Max

I've struck out on an aweful lot of cards lately.

But I did pick up a very interesting postcard. It is a team picture of the All American Girls Professional Baseball League ("League of Their Own") Lassies. In the photo, and identified on the photo, is Harry Heilmann. I would post it, but my posting skills are still poor.

Only recent acquisition even worth mentioning for this mediocre collector is a 38G Jimmy Foxx. Hal, what, no new rarities, you can't be resting on your laurels just because you bought a DiMag rookie can you?

I bought two original photos of John McGraw and another McIntyre "unidentified" from Rhys. I also got a couple of 1938 action shots of Fenway.

The ones I lost list is a lot longer
two original photos from the 1919 WS.
Kid Nichols Cabinet in his Omaha uni.
Two Cabinets of the Nebraska Indians team.
1903 Red Sox v A's Program.

Not mine (yet!) but this weekend I had a chance to view this old baseball equipment catalog. Still trying to research when it's from. Appx 16 pages with 30 or so fabric swatches.

If anyone has info on this please let me know.

A recent pickup. An early wool flannel bibbed-front jersey. Not sure if it is a fireman or baseball jersey, but an awesome example of a bibbed-front jersey.

Just picked up a 1922 Exhibit Joe Wood, a 1928 Sam Jones and a 1927 Ken Williams. My friend, no one threw harder than Smoky Joe Wood; of course by '22 he was in the outfield in Cleveland with his old Boston roomie and best friend Tris Speaker.

Also got three 10-cent unopened packs of 5 cards each of Exhibit westerns cards from the 1960s with Lee Marvin and James Arness (as Matt Dillon) showing on two of them. I think I am going to open the third pack with the dud on the front (bad I know but I've always wanted to open a vintage pack).

Lucked into a Hindu backed T206 Southern League on eBay. It came as a free bonus with 1953 Topps lot of 4 cards (paid $21 for them all & the Topps included a nice EX+ Shantz and a worn Kiner)

Not really a card, but it's got to be the best $11.58 I've spent in quite awhile.
