Some may not be defined as "sports movies" ie boxing, wrestling, and golf, but what the heck.

Major League(the whole series, yes, even including back to Minors)
For love of the game(the Costner trilogy and Tin Cup usually go together for me)
Caddyshack
Cinderella Man
Rocky(but the whole series only adds to the appeal)

Adding some comedies about less athletic sports. Yeah, I know Golf should count here, but Caddyshack was that good...
Baseketball
Dodgeball
Balls of Fury
Talladega Nights
Kingpin

1. Fat City (imo the best boxing movie ever)
2. Bang The Drum Slowly (early Di Nero)
3. Requiem For A Heavyweight (Jackie Gleason is sensational as the sleazy manager)
4. Hoosiers (classic Hackman)
5. Slap Shot (I once had the honor of interviewing Paul Newman and he stated that portraying Reggie Dunlop was hands-down his most enjoyable role as an actor).

Honorable mention: The Harder They Fall (Bogart's last film); '61; Eight Men Out; Paperback Hero (Kier Dullea as a small-town Canadian hockey punk); Rollerball (the original, not the pukey remake).

1) The Sandlot - In my opinion, the most transcendent film about baseball. I have a feeling that my kids and my grandchildren will enjoy it as much as I do.
2) The Natural - First movie I ever saw in the theater. I was an infant, and apparently I didn't make a peep throughout the film. I suspect this movie is the reason why I developed a love for baseball.
3) Soul of the Game - I wasn't as impressed with "42" as I had hoped to be. "Soul of the Game", however, did not let me down.
4) The Blind Side - Talk about an inspirational story. My favorite football movie.
5) The Big Lebowski - Bowling is a sport.... right?

Default Favorite movies...

I really, really liked Rocky I. Rocky II very nice as well. The character studies/development were awesome. And the life lessons learned can be applied to our own lives as well - especially since I have been in competitive sports most my whole life (now Masters swimmer). Rocky teaches young and old alike about life and what it takes to succeed. Before a swim meet I watch Rocky and get all pumped up! Great movie. Burgess Meredith was awesome! Some of the inspirational training segments almost bring tears to my eyes.

Nothing you can't do after watching Rocky! Stallone's finest!

Side note addition: Rocky, 1976, 10 Oscar Nominations, 3 Oscars: Best Picture, Best Director, Best Film Editing. Any other Sports move ever have the nominations and awards of Rocky?

Raging Bull, which is a work of art rather than a sports film. Exquisite, sublime cinematography.

Famous scene from the movie

Another good if violent scene. Joe Pesci play's Jakes brother and sees Jake's wife enter a bar.

Raging Bull is a far better film/work of art than any of my top 5 sports movies... Only Hoop Dreams is close as a film (for very different reasons) IMO. However I do not think of Raging Bull purely as a "sports" movie, as much as I do a really intense character study of a flawed man and boxer. And I do not think the best sports movie necessarily has to be a great film (the Natural definitely is not that). If I were to categorize Raging Bull as "sports", it's tops on my list by FAR. As is, I'll stick with Bull Durham as tops on my sports list, and Raging Bull near the top of the all time film list.
