Default What do you guys think of this new Topps offering?

https://www.topps.com/2019-topps-x-g...s-edition.html

the GaryVee set seems odd to me, but I might take a flyer on it. At $55, it's relatively inexpensive and is likely to be a very low count of some of the rookies.

They've been doing these niche sets recently. Bryce Harper and I think Francisco Lindor curated sets. I don't have any interest, and I don't expect it will maintain value. But that's just me.

Who is this guy and why does he rate his own set?

Or can I just ask Topps and get one with my name on it?

Gary Vee is an internet marketing and investment guru. He was making the rounds at the National, and has his own subset in 2019 Topps flagship and his card and auto in Ginter. Think Jim Cramer from CNBC.

They had him discussing the future of baseball cards at the VIP gathering on Wednesday night at the National. He seems to be a love him or hate him kind of guy with, from what I can tell, the vast majority being the latter....that actually know who he is. This video is the reason I personally wouldn't trust anything he said because he doesn't sound or act like he has a clue. I know this rip of the tobacco packs has been discussed on the boards before, but ANYONE would have handled them more gently to try to actually preserve the pack even if the knew there was not going to be a card in there....which they should have known by the tax stamp.

Default 48 Robinson

I heard from a dealer that Gary V is buying every '48 leaf robinson out there. He apparently has tons of $ to spend is buying every card of ones he believes is a good investment.

Is there any interest in a Thumbs Down Guy curated set?

I had to look him up myself. I guess I am online just enough to accomplish my collecting and that is about it.
