Default Celebz Direct, Inc.

Anyone heard of them or know of their reputation? Tons of game used items I saw and all they say is "from an employee" or "Twins clubhouse source."

Anyone bought from them?

I have googled them because I wanted a signed bat they had. There are a lot of bad reviews. My research showed that the auto's are usually real but the item they are on is often misrepresented.

I ended up not buying the bat for several reasons but believe the auto on the bat was real.

I also believe they are a member on here.

There were several threads about them on GUF about bats with odd use and 15-year old pine tar that was nice and fresh. Celebz came on and basically were A-Holes to everyone who dared question them. From that moment on, I refused to ever look at anything of theirs.

I would be very careful with them; however, my two experiences with them were both unusually good: I purchased an item that an auction house had obtained from the same person who supplied Celebz with items, and I needed additional information about the item - Celebz went overboard getting me what I needed, even though there was no financial benefit to them and they hadn't ever touched the item. I contacted them over a year later because I saw something else they were selling on ebay that looked like it might have come from the same lot as something I was looking for. Again, fast response and they gave me more information than I asked for, and again at no benefit to them - they didn't try to sell me anything.

I don't doubt anything that anyone has said about them, and I would be very diligent about researching anything you plan on buying from them, but I think part of the problem is that they try to move a lot of stuff quickly, and don't always obtain enough documentation for people to buy/bid confidently, and it also seems from what I have read, that they make mistakes. I haven't read all the threads about them, but if the evidence is there that they have made false claims about things, then I would strongly consider it.

They are a member here. They specialize in buying a player's "inventory". At least that's what I have gathered from observing.

Are these the same people who used to be Elite Sports from Florida? They used to have Cano as a rookie... Arod at one point, I believe.

If I recall correctly, Elite had good signatures, but there were questions about some of their game used items.

I think you are correct in that observation. It's important to realize that some such players may not have the same integrity that some of us expect, meaning they might be signing documents stating that things are something that they are not, realizing that collectors of modern game-used items pretty much believe anything they want to believe.

From my research on them it was not the player with integrity problems.

They used to list items for sale in net54's BST every once in a while.
Twice I had an interest in items that they were selling and reached out via e-mail and PM through the forum. Both times I never received a response back, FWIW.

Players have been often involved in game-used memorabilia issues as well - the players are sometimes given a pile of blank form letters which they sign without there being any information on the letter about ANY item. This means they are relying on the seller to fill in the correct item and the correct information about the item. I think anyone who collects modern game-used knows about this. What makes it worse is that sometimes the players scribble is so poor that the seller writes in the wrong player name as well.

They wanted to advertise on the board and I said no.....I didn't feel they were a good fit.

They were broke?

There posts in the classifieds were a mess - I can't imagine what their ads would look like
