Default George C. Miller & Co. Set Completed

Posted By: Bruce Babcock

GCM Oscar Melillo

After six years I have completed the R300 1933 George C. Miller & Co. set (32 cards). The beauty/ugliness of GCMs is in the eye of the beholder, making this set an acquired taste, to be sure. The set can be viewed at:

http://homepage.mac.com/thurber51/PhotoAlbum71.html

Oscar Melillo was the last and toughest card in the set. Both Jim Manos & Dan McKee turned me on to a dealer where I could find Melillo, as well as an uncancelled Joe Cronin, after I posted in the B/S/T thread. So, thank you, gentlemen! The Melillo I now own is actually the first one I have ever seen.

My Andrews is cancelled, but fortunately only trimmed rather than punched. From what I've heard, there are only two uncancelled Andrews known, and even the cancelled Andrews is very tough to find. It's always satisfying to complete a set, and after being dead in the water for two years with this set, completion of this one is especially nice.

Congrats on completing a set that is tough enough, let alone getting it all uncalncelled except for the Andrews.

I'm incompetent at being incontenent.

Thanks for the great scans, I've never seen most of those cards. 18 HOFer's in one set is amazing.

6 years seems like a short time to me. There can't be many entire sets out there.
The George C. Miller Hafey has always been one of my favorite cards. I dunno what it is about the card, it has that 1970's Starsky and Hutch look to it.

Congratulations on finishing the set.
