I tried to search the internet for something, but couldn't find anything. The only thing I could find on the internet with Matty on the cover was a 1908 cuban book from an old Leland's auction.

I think its 1912 or something close but he is on the cover of a Police Gazette. I don't have an image or an exact date sorry. It is at home. H is also fetured on the cover of a Baseball Stars notebook. I hope this helps.

I doubt if this is the first cover for Matty, but it's the only one I know about. The Police Gazette was too big for my scanner, as you can see.

I also have one of those notebooks, I think it is really neat. Found a shadow box it fits into nicely. When was that photo taken of Matty, same as his T206 cards.

Yah that's the same photo from my Baseball Stars Notebook as well but the photo takes up the whole cover. Thats is a great notebook Leon. I think the photo is a Conlon and around 1908 if memory serves me right. I might be wrong as I am not to good with photos.

If you are asking about the first photo posted, that's a photo of Christy Mathewson, actually all the pics are of Matty, and its a whole magazine. It's pretty neat too as it is over sized and displays well.

Thanks for the info, guys!

I'll just describe it as one of the earliest magazines with Matty on the cover since it's hard to say definitively. I can't imagine there's anything earlier, though.
