Default RIP Jean Beliveau

The world lost one of its great hockey ambassadors in Jean Beliveau.
A consummate gentleman through and through, he will be greatly missed.

In honor of Le Gros Bill, let's see your Beliveau memorabilia and please share any thoughts or stories you have regarding this true Canadien legend.

Damn. My first vintage hockey card 'event' was when I was in third grade and involved Beliveau. I did not know much about hockey but I had a card source, an antique store where the owner let me paw through a giant box of cards and buy twelve for a buck. I saw a 1968-69 Beliveau one day and thought he might be something special but wasn't sure. And let's face it, 8.3 cents was real money in 1973. So I passed on the card but put it somewhere in the box where I could find it, then went to school and asked the hockey fans if Beliveau was good. After they finished laughing at my ignorance and said yes, indeed he was, I went back to the store the next weekend to get the card. Ever since that has been one of my favorite cards and sets. Anyhow, that's my 'share' for this remembrance threat. Oh, and this too:

While I was a loyal Chicago Black Hawks fan in the mid-60s through the early 70s, I always liked Jean Beliveau. I always respected him. The more I learned about him, the more I liked and admired him. I'm just so upset I can't say anymore.

Rest in peace, Mr. Beliveau. Deepest condolences and sympathy to his family. --Brian Powell
