Default PWCC / Jeter Autographics - What the hell is going on?!?!

In 2013, I sent a 2000 Skybox Autographics Purple Foil #d 7/50 into BGS. It came back a 7.5. There were definitely some corners and edges issues (especially the bottom left) but I thought it would come back an 8. I sold it on eBay auction no reserve for $455 late last year.

Suddenly, last month that same card pops up on PWCC's eBay auction as a PSA Gem Mint 10 for $2247? Can someone explain how in God's name this might have happened? Occam's razor says that someone broke it out of the BGS holder, altered it and sent it into PSA and PSA would have to change the grade of 10 to an Authentic or Altered if they knew about this. Do you guys agree with this line of thinking?

I posted this on Blowout Cards and the guys over there agree that it looks like the card was shaved. I alerted Brent at PWCC and assume that he'll reverse the sale. Stuff like this gets me SO heated.

That is what I originally thought, but an auto would have not ended up exactly the same in the spot on two cards.

The two autographs do look exactly the same. But, when I look at the two scans, it looks like the 0 and the '/' in the numbering at the bottom right of the card extend closer to the border in the BGS card compared to the PSA card. If that's the case someone couldn't have trimmed the PSA card, right? I'm not familiar with this card but haven't there been others where people posted the same #'d card out of a supposedly limited population card?

I thought this same thing also till I seen the thread over on BO and someone with photo shop skills posted the card over the top of each other and they match up exactly.

It seems to be an optical illusion that because of the little lip on PSA's holder, that you think the card extends lower than it actually does.

Default AUTO grade?

I was thinking that the PSA 10 only represents the grade of the auto. This might explain the confusion.

The differences in the card are also hindered by BGS holders that are too thick for a clear shot like the PSA holder does.

PSA has gotten a bit confusing as they offer auto grades only or card grade and auto grade or you can choose to just have the card slabbed with no grade.

It is frustrating at best.

Peace, mike

no, if it were a blue flip your line of thoughts would be correct. however this is a red flip so the "10" represents the card as being gem mint and the auto is confirmed...

which still begs the op's original question: "what the hell is going on"

Check out the bid history on this PWCC auction.LOL http://www.ebay.com/itm/1991-Topps-D...f59&rmvSB=true

There is no way the bidder with 2 feedback is a shill account.

You've never heard of the power of the PSA holder?
