Default Philadelphia Athletics Team Signed Help

A nice older lady brought this picture into my shop. It is really out of my range of expertise. First of all, what year is it and what type of value? She is holding onto it most likely because it was her father's, but she needs to know more for insurance purposes. It would be an even cooler item if the picture wasn't torn, but it looks like that was done to fit into the frame? Any information would help,
Thanks
Ted

Default A's Photo

Cool item... thank you for sharing! My gut says its the 29-30 athletics... Looks like Jimmie Foxx misplaced his signature and signed the photo twice...

Despite its ratty appearance, I think its a beauty and could probably be matted out so that much torn border is out of site...

It's the 1929 team. A few of these team signed photographs have come up for auction over the years going anywhere from a $1000 to $3500 but all in better shape and authenticated. I can't recall seeing a version with the players names underneath them in the print. Can't say if this one is authentic or not. Some of the signatures look okay but several do not. The Lefty Grove looks stamped and as Dave said, Jimmie Foxx signed on himself and on Bing Miller.

I agree the 1928-1930 Athletics. There are some good ones here besides Foxx namely Kid Gleason and Jack Quinn.
However I do not like the Eddie Collins signature on the far left. It looks like none of my signatures , and not like any that I have seen of his from the 1920s or 1930s. Maybe somebody with more knowledge or examples of his signature will offer a better opinion.
Value will depend obviously on condition and a good analysis of the autos for authenticity.

Thanks Dave!

My 2nd grade English teacher would not be impressed!

Yup... Collins unfortunately is not authentic.

I don't see how you could mat those flaws out... attempting to do so might just make it look worse. The torn portions just cut too deeply into the central image.

Still a neat/rare piece!

Perhaps the Collins, Cochrane, and Simmons are clubhouse sigs?

Agreed. It seems to be a mix of authentic and clubhouse sigs.
