Default OT- Sunday NY Times article - Pat Neshek auto collection

Interesting article in the NY Times yesterday about A's pitcher Pat Neshek's quest to get an auto for every card in the 1985 Topps set.

http://www.nytimes.com/2013/04/07/sp...pagewanted=all

Link also has an article about Yu Darvish blowing perfect game in 9th with 2 outs--once done in 1908 by pitcher Hooks Wiltse. That must have been painful to watch.

I've thought about doing this with the '86 topps set. Always thought it would be neat to do something special with the first set I ever collected.

1986 Topps was my first set too. I got the complete set for Christmas that year and had some packs from earlier in the season! Nothing brings back memories like seeing a Chris Brown and a Floyd Youmans (big rookies that year)! Ah memories!

Doug Flynn charges $400 to sign his '86 Topps (when he signs it). There are probably less than a dozen signed copies. The Joe DeSa is very tough as well.

Wonderful article on Neshek... The guy is a class act... I watched him in New Britain, and I never witnessed him turning a request down...

I actually came over to this forum after a member on www.patneshek.com referred me to it. A lot of kids on that board and not nearly as high end, but its a fun forum to be a part of. Pat will host autograph contests where he will give away some lower end (current Twins stuff) and some higher end stuff (mainly SS signed baseballs of HOFers). He also trades away a lot of his game used stuff if that floats your boat.

If you saw my completed 16x20 Opening Day at Target Field project, Pat was kind enough to send me a PM and help me get Brendan Harris to get the final 26th signature. He generally has a rule that he won't get teammates autographs for people, but he will sign any thing and everything you send his way with whatever inscription(s) that you want. Real cool guy.
