Default Overpriced Autographs

I really enjoy collecting autographs, but a lot of players charge a high price. I am able to get a better deal on eBay w/ psa or jsa authentication. I really wish some of these promotors would try to get some of these players to scale down their price. I'd like my son to get to meet some of them, perhaps get a picture but it is just gets out of my budget. I wonder if anyone feels the same...

This is exactly why I started and stopped almost imediatly. There was no value beyond what I paid so if need be I could not sell to break even. About a yr ago I sold off about 40 of the balls I had autoed. All HOF'ers and took a $150 loss just to get rid of them. So Ebay or none for my collecting!

As long as people will pay it, they will charge it. And I have to say as much as I like to collect autographs and I do and have been since the late 60s, if I were a player or ex-player I can't think of much I would rather do less than sign autographs.

I've long thought it odd to pay $200 for an autograph ball you could get elsewhere for $40.

The reasons may be getting a chance to see the star in person and if someone has something special he wants signed-- ala a game used jersey. The latter I could certainly understand.

Default It needs to be unique

I totally agree. It seems crazy to pay x amount of $$$ to just get a ball or 8X10 signed at a show. when you really can get it for 1/2 the price w/ jsa/psa authentication on eBay or from a dealer. However, it is worth it to pay the price if you can get something unique or totally outside of the box signed. I'd love to see some strange or unique items signed.

Hockey players are easy to get autos from. And at no cost! The only way to get BB players autos is to pay for them. I have 40 different BB players that signed their cards for me, and now it seems it's impossible to get anymore.
