Default Pittsburgh Pirates

Does anyone know what this Pirates pinback is worth? It's not what I usually buy but I really like this one.

I can't imagine it's from 1971 because the mascot pins look very different then. It's got to be 1960/61. I have the one without the World Champions. I notice this one has the small baseball logo with parallel stitching, which I can also find on other mascot pins from the 1960s, and on the popular stadium/mascot pennants from the same era. I was once told these were all made by a company in Buffalo.

I think it is 1971 but that's just my "gut." 71Buc would know for sure.

It's a 1960 over print button. I have no idea on the value.

While I agree with you that this is considered an "overprint" by conventional wisdom, I think it's quite obvious that the original artwork was changed for the new version (bottom of shoe, glove fingers, the logo to the right of Pirates, brim of hat, etc.) therefore making it NOT an overprint, but a new print.

I also have no idea of the value.

Thanks for all the info, it's listed at $27 so might be worth buying.

I believe that logo is a double "S" (not a baseball) for Sports Specialties...a concessionaire. It is seen fairly often on pennants of the 1960s.

I've seen that one go for a wide range of prices, but $27 is certainly fair.
