Default King Kelly?

Posted By: Bob C

Just picked up this 1910 Contentnea card. The player pictured is identified as "King" Kelly. Player looks to be very old. Card is listed as common player in 2007 SCD. Is he the same HOF'R King Kelly? I looked up in the reference literature but it makes no mention of Kelly playing/managing in the Southern Leagues
Someone out there has to know.

Thanks everyone for the replies. A board member emailed me the following site:
http://www.baseball-reference.com/
It is a fantastic resource and does list the one and only King Kelly - he did indeed die in 1894.
The board came through, as usual!

I'll bet half the ballplaying Kellys in America were called "King" at that time, if only by their teammates ...
