Ryan, I'm not a T206 guy but am curious about your thoughts on the 520 set that sold last night.

Phil, I was following the T206 set. I think the final price with BP was quite strong ($72k), especially considering only about 30% of it was graded and none of the key cards graded above a 2 (and most graded less than 2). T

Matt,
That Ruth ball is amazing. Not sure I’ve seen a ball from that era look so white. Looks like at least one other person signed it. Who else signed the ball? Adam |

Nice card. I have seen most of the Leader Novelty cards, but I don't remember seeing the Hornsby before.

Thanks Adam (and Jesse!), the other writing was actually what made it a "must get" for me, as it pertains to the provenance. The writing is from the original owner, specifying the exact date and place of the signing. It was on Babe Ruth Day in Houston, back on July 10, 1947, at the Texas League game between Houston and Fort Worth (which went 11 innings). I was able to track down lots of news media from that day covering Ruth's time there; he was on a tour supporting boys' baseball for the American Legion, sponsored by Ford Motor dealers. Was also able to find a program from a banquet/luncheon the Ford Dealers threw for Ruth on that same day in Houston (replete with the menu, LOL). It really contributed to the history and provenance of the ball, which in conjunction with it being a gem mt auto sealed the deal for me.

I have been fortunate to meet some great people in this group. The T212 came to me through a lead from asoriano and the 1911 San Francisco Chronicle with an article mentioning my great grandfather was sent to me as a gift from edjs. Thanks guys!
