Default Help Dating Tickets

Hello, I acquired these tickets for the Philadelphia Athletics and Washington Senators about two weeks ago. I have been researching and trying to date them and possibly find out the games, but have been coming up short. Would anyone be able to help or point me to someone that can? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

The Athletics ticket is from around 1947 to 1952. The Grandstand ticket price was $1.25 in the mid-40's and Shibe Park was renamed Connie Mack Stadium in 1953. Athletics tickets didn't seem to change much during those years so I don't think the date can be narrowed down much further.

The Washington Senators ticket is from the 1968- 1971 era when Robert E. Short was the team President. In 1972 the team was moved to Arlington, TX and became the Texas Rangers.

I hope this helps!

Default We should all

Try to get this down for every single team. There has got to be people still alive that worked for these stadiums during this time. What would be the first steps?

Use team presidents as a guide to era. Specific years are tougher on undated tickets, but ticket prices and occasionally promotions on the back of the ticket will help you nail down a year if a promotion has an expiration date. That being said, fan promotions on tickets like I am describing are more recent additions.

FYI, a long-time ticket collector friend named Dan Busby is currently working on several excellent books related to specific team tickets and era of each. Dodgers, Yankees and Giants will likely be his first three releases.

Also, the stadium was originally named DC Stadium but was changed to Robert F. Kennedy Memorial Stadium in early 1969.

So through process of elimination, the ticket is now dated 1969-1971.
Thanks for the tip on the stadium name change.

Thanks everyone for your help and inputs! I'll definitely try to remember that information in the future whenever I get or come across tickets again.

Awesome! I hope that you or Dan will share how/where to get copy of these books when they are released. I could definitely see myself adding any/all such books to my library, regardless of whether I am a fan of the particular team or not.
