Default The 1956 Topps set

In my opinion, the most beautiful set ever produced by any company.

This was the first year Topps didn't have Bowman bugging them, they spiked the ball in grand style!

Checklist cards, team cards and.. at least for one more year.. the great large size!

Very colorful cards and all of the stars (except Musial) are here. Mantle (in his triple crown season) Campy (after winning his third MVP) Same with Yogi..

I always loved the Herb Score card. Such happiness!

And a young Koufax that is very affordable!

And the Worlds Champions Brooklyn Dodgers!

Does anyone else love this set?

I finished this set on March 8, 2009 when I added Phil Rizzuto to the collection.

Probably my favorite set of all time, and one I need to put together in some fashion one day.

Recently finished off a 1961 set and will probably hit this one next. I do agree, a beautiful set.

Congrats, Big Daddy, on the 1961 Topps set. This is not an easy set to complete, but a real nice one when done!

Have been working on the master set (including all known variations) for a few years and getting close.
You can see what I have left to get here ...

Tom, I finished mine in 2012. I absolutely love this set, lots of hall of fame players and the artwork is absolutely beautiful. My favorite Topps set by far.

Finished my 1952 low number set and about 25-30 cards away on a nice EX or so 1956. Unfortunately red a few bigger stars like Koufax, Williams, Clemente but do have Mantle, Aaron and Robinson. Goal for 2015 will be to finish it and 1953 Topps as well.....

Congrats in the 1952 low number run. That is a nice accomplishment.

It really feels great to complete the '56 set.. Good luck!

I don't have the deep pockets to collect whole sets, so I stick to only the HOFers in the set. It let's me finish the sets in a reasonable time and with some investor value as I plan to sell them off when the time comes which hopefully is something like the kids' college or a new house.

I just finished the 1956 HOF set and am trying to upgrade to all PSA 7's. Of the 32 cards, I currently have:
19-PSA 7's
11-PSA 6's
1-PSA 5 (Clemente)
1-PSA 3 (Mantle)

I'm off to collecting the 1953 HOF set, because in my mind it's the next best set Topps produced. Not sure if I'm going to go for the set in PSA 6 or what. The Mantle and Mays could be a mortgage payment per each.
