Default 1955 red man tobacco willie mays

A Good number of years ago, I send in to PSA to be graded a 1955
Red Man Tobacco Willie Mays to be graded. I got it back "altered"
Since I don't really collect those cards, I just threw it in a bin and let
it sit. I pulled it out today and was wondering, what was altered.
I have attached a photo, and would appreciate your input.WILLIE MAYS FRONT.jpg

Hard to say with just scans to look at.

But maybe the right side is trimmed a little? That side almost looks a little wavy to me. And comparing to some of the other examples out there, it seems like there's often a little bit more to the picture on this side.

Default Willie Mays Red Tobacco card?

Wouldn't they have said "trimmed" if that was the problem?

I don’t think that PSA discloses why on the slab, if an item is only authentic. I believe that SGC does identify why.

+1, comparing to other 1955 Red Man's, it's very thin l/r.

If the card was ever in a screwdown holder, it got pressed in such a way that PSA considers altered because it could be used to press out wrinkles/creases.

Did you shine a blacklight over it? Could also be color added.

Default Willie mays red man

At the time I sent it in, which was many years ago, I was told by
another collector that during that period of time many dealers
enhanced the color, so thought that might be the problem.

I did put it under a black light and can't find anything.. During the time
I sent it in, PSA would return cards as "trimmed", off center, etc.
it was in a holder before I sent it in.
