Default according to Cap Anson......

Posted By: John(z28jd)

...In the January 10,1918 issue of The Sporting News he was asked to pick his all-time team and he choose the following players:
Catcher: Buck Ewing and King Kelly
1B: Cap Anson(how nice of him to include himself )
2B: Fred Pfeffer
3B: Ned Williamson
SS: Bill Lange
OF: George Gore, Jimmy Ryan and Hugh Duffy
P: Amos Rusie,John Clarkson and Jim McCormick

interesting list considering Anson had been around since the beginning of the NL but theres more non-hall of famers than hall of famers on the list. Knowlegeable fans might also notice that only 2 of the players werent teammates of Anson and none of the players played significant time after 1900(Ryan 234 games,Duffy played 113 games,Rusie played just 3)
