Well that is interesting. According to VCP, the last PSA9 1955 Clemente was sold by Mastro Auctions for $36,311.50. Of course, we now know a lot of those auctions were shilled, so maybe even that is an inflated price. I know 2006 was ten years ago, but with a current bid of $262,900 for the card at Heritage, that's quite a nice profit.

The VCP data is incomplete then, as the last PSA 9 to sell was at the National via Heritage themselves this past summer. A friend won it for 310k. Just checked and this is mentioned in the auction description for this latest example; I will send the link to VCP when free later and see if they will update the record accordingly.

Default several have sold

in 2015 for around 300,000 surprised VCP info is that out of date.

8s were going for 10-15k as recently as a year and a half ago. I'm sure we all passed on a few we saw, even if we weren't really considering buying at the time. I was close on a couple but just missed. Talk about a nice return in less than 2 years.

Oh, the cards I could've had, but hesitated pulling the trigger on and regret! One in particular haunts me to this day. It's a mistake I try not to make these days, and hence why I broke the bank on my 53T. We can't take it with us, gotta enjoy life!

At $220k, hopefully it's trimmed or a repro.

yeah it feels on the most desirable cards we are going to have to set a new market price if we want to buy them..still id rather wish I bought and didn't buy then buy a card and wish I didn't.....same with airplanes...I rather be on the ground wishing I was in the air then in the air wishing I was on the ground.

I remember reading something a while back that said Dmitri Young paid around 400k for his PSA 10 Clemente RC, and it seemed to say he overpaid at that time. It looks like the only mistake he made now was selling a few years too soon.
