Default Educate me about PSA 10s

Are the 10s with older flips with no PSA hologram on the front flip considered to be the same perfect 10 material as the 10s with the newest flips?

I am genuinely curious. However, if you are like me and don't know, a reply with a Bo Derek pic will suffice. Thanks!

The quality of PSA 10s hasn't changed much over the years. It's in the mid-grades where the older flips are less trusted to be of equal quality. And some people complain that PSA 10s aren't all perfect. Some are slightly off-center, and some may have border chipping on the back (like 1989 Fleer baseball).

I have a newer lighthouse label PSA 10 Jeter Murphy that looks a lot better than the second generation holdered one I used to own. Foil looked dull and chipped in spots on the older one. I personally search for more recent graded cards if possible and have sold/replaced old holders with newer slabbed cards where possible.

I have read people thinking newer slabbed cards (hologram on front) and the lighthouse label ones are when PSA was grading more strongly vs in the earlier 2000's. But its probably just a matter of opinion vs real comparisons.

Have to assess it card by card. There are some real head-scratchers in all eras of PSA. It ebbs and flows with turnover at their factory. Some graders are the graders of death, others are lenient. No rhyme or reason. I've gotten inconsistent grades across the same order, probably because the cards were parceled out to different graders. Plus, when you get to the 9-10 debate, there is often no discernible difference between the cards.

I dare anyone to crack out a significant number of PSA 10s, resubmit them, and report back how many 10s you get.
