Default Ty Cobb vs. The American League

These stats show that it didn't seem to matter the special talent of any of these pitchers: Bender, Chesbro, Johnson (328 120 .366), Plank, Ruth, Waddell, Walsh, Young - Cobb's BA facing anyone of them remained well in the 300s.

This is cool stuff, but the fact that Herb Pennock isn't marked as a southpaw just jumps right out at me.

Just an example of why Cobb was the greatest.

It appears that the immortal Bill Bayne goes down in history as the pitcher who Cobb had the toughest time hitting. He only batted .139 against Bayne in 36 at-bats — nearly all during the live ball era.
