Default vintage Babe Ruth misprint/error card... junk?

Posted By: Paul

Hello everyone, I am new to this forum and just by reading some posts I see that there are some very knowledgable vintage card collectors in here. About a month ago, I was given a box of old baseball cards, and in it was a vintage prw-ww2 babe ruth card. it appears that the printing press screwed misprinted a layer of color on the card, its hard to describe so here is a scan I made of the card. My question is, does the card hold equal value as the same card without the misprint? Does this make it rare? I'm not too sure what I have got here and I am wondering if its worth holding on to or not. Also, does anyone know what set this card is from? Any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks everyone for reading this.

it's a w516-1 strip card, some people do collect error cards and it's ruth, but i don't have a guess as to this cards worth. a normal 516 ruth in that shape would sell for between $100-$175.imo

Do you want to sell it? Put it up on ebay and see how it goes. I will bid on it for sure. Rob

Would you buy if it were red; would you buy it if your name were Ted?

Interesting error, nonetheless. Yeah, what else is in the box?

I would buy it if it was red, I wouldn't if it were blue,
Id especially want it if it was w516-2
For the Babe knock kneed, pigeon toed and throwing righty too
With the offset print, for my collection it is far overdue.

It is an interesting piece because there is an image of Babe Ruth pitching, but I think it would sell for less that a regular strip card. There does not appear to be a following for printer scraps, misprints and errrors outside of T206.

I have baseball and boxing errors of this type. I respectfully disagree with my colleagues who don't think this one would bring a good price. I'd not be surprised for specialty collectors to bid it into three figures on ebay.
