Default WTB- Indians black nodder

Know it may be a long shot, but anybody have an Indians black nodder from the 60's? This one has eluded me for my set and would like to find one. repaired/restored is ok as long as priced accordingly.

Good luck in your search. It took me more than a few years to find the two in my collection. Funny thing was, after I found the "realistic" version, a few of the "generic" versions popped up on eBay in the ensuing months. I've not seen many come up for sale lately, but admittedly I haven't been looking for them.

I bought my "realistic" version in or around 1998. I was living in New Jersey at the time, and it was listed on eBay. It looked legit, and after e-mailing the seller I called him to ask a few questions. During our conversation, he mentioned that he was about 2 hours from me and that I was welcome to come to his store to check out the doll.

I just assumed his store was a card or antiques shop. The next day I drove the 90 miles and was surprised to find his business to be a combination surplus/junk/used-auto-parts/second-hand store. I was convinced I was at the wrong place. I walked in, told the person behind the counter why I was there and watched him turn around and pull the nodder off a dusty, glass shelf, where it was sitting between a Vick's vaporizer and a stack of VHS tapes.

After inspecting it and preparing to leave, I mentioned to him that the doll was most likely going to sell for more than $1,000. I jokingly said something like, "Can I count on you to take good care of it until I buy it?"

He was not amused, I'm guessing because he thought I was full of crap about what I thought it would sell for.

When I returned five days later, he looked at me like I had two heads, probably trying to figure out what kind of moron would pay $1,500 for a bobbin' head.

Rob, you probably could have gotten it a lot cheaper by flashing him some cash when you went to inspect it...but good on you for not being "that guy" who wrecks all of my dreams by getting sellers to end auctions early.
