Default Mile High Lot 802

http://www.milehighcardco.com/LotDet...ary-Circa-1870

Saw this today and was very surprised--this is the type of thing I would expect to see on Ebay. I do not believe that Spaulding is in this photo and wonder if any others think otherwise. Apparently, someone thought Spaulding was in it because without him it's hard to believe that this photo is worth about $2400 with the vig.

"After intense discussion both at last years National Sports Collectors Convention in Baltimore as well as through phone calls and emails with noted hobby historians and advanced enthusiasts the overall thought to this being Albert Spalding rested between 85-90%"

I would like to see or hear the evidence that that is Spalding. Basing it on where the picture was purchased is pretty flimsy. They don't even know what team it is. I'm pretty sure those type of uniforms are not exclusive to the 1870's either. it is a cool photograph even if it is just some unknowns, though

Mark started a similar thread earlier today on the memorabilia side. You have a good eye.

The photo appears to be from later than the 1870s.

In some dimension Spalding is in the photo, but it isn't this one.

In my opinion this lot should be taken down ASAP to minimize the reputational damage to Mile High.

They feel the likelihood is 85-90%. I think it's more like 0-1%.

when you read the auction listing it helps if you imagine Rod Serling reading it aloud with the theme from The Twilight Zone playing.

They should have started the listing "Submitted for your approval..."
