Default John Blattner HOF Collection?

Came across this a few times just googling around. This collection has some amazing / high quality pieces, and PSA/DNA recognizes his name on the labels as the John Blattner Collection. Who is/was this guy? Just curious as I've noticed many of his items (from this list) have been recently auctioned off. I even have a few from this pc.

Pretty sure John is this guy:

I could be wrong, but some reason remember reading this is him.

Default John Blattner collection

I didn't really know of him by name, but now that I have seen his collection it really is amazing.

The quality is mostly amazing. FYI, the Victor Willis signed 3 x 5 was one that I believe Kevin Keating was selling for several years at about $14K.
It is sweet (arguably the best in existence), but $14K is a lot of jack!

I see a handful that I sold him and wish I had back. His collection is all over the place now.

Unfortunately, a few of his stuff is really suspect (I am not saying he had any direct involvement) such as the Jesse Burkett and the H. Wright that appears stolen.

I am curious is he still collecting or is he selling? Because the Martin DiHigo piece was auctioned recently. I think it was in Huggins and Scott in April of this year and it did not sell due to not meeting the reserve.

Pretty sure everything has been sold. I know some of this stuff was re-slabbed and but in the last Heritage auction.

Thanks for posting this. I always love looking at others' HOF collections, especially when they include some real toughies.

I too wonder about the Burkett in his collection. I've never seen one in so steady of a hand. That doesn't mean it isn't real, but there aren't many around to compare to.

I need to pick something up soon.

My take is that he started to dissolve his collection a few years ago. I saw some of the items listed on eBay, Heritage, and other sites in the last year or so. Also, many are being sold by JoshuaTree

There are some sweet items there but WAY overpriced.

On a side note, here are some other HOF collections on the PSA site:
