Don

I took a few minutes and looked at your sketch card. Cool card by the way!

Here would be my guess and explanation.

Without knowing the date (year) on the back of the sketch card, I'm going to agree with Coninefan and say its Smoltz.

Smoltz was known to sport a full beard at times like on your card. It also looks like a partial number "9" on the back of the jersey and Smoltz's number was 29. Smoltz was righthanded, so that works.

I also went as far as to look at past Atlanta pitching rosters and not many right handed pitchers there that compared with the likeness on the sketch card.

One more thing, did you ever look at that card under magnification? There are two players sketched on the card. I inverted the colors so you can see the outline of the second player.

Another suggestion is to try and figure out who the artist is and contact them.

So what is the date (year) that card was produced by Topps?

After doing a little more digging, I found this sketch card by the same artist.

Looks like a "9" on the back of the jersey
