Default OT---The King Is Gone..........

Today marks the death of "The King of Rock n' Roll"....Elvis Aron Presley....Jan.8,1935-Aug. 16, 1977..............He has been one of my favorites since I was like 3 years old........fortunate enough to see him perform live 2 times (1975 at age 4 and 1976 at age 5) with my parents. I still remember seeing him............let us have a moment of silence..........

Default I still remember................

where I was when I heard the news. Sitting atop a Life Guard stand at the city pool twirling a whistle on a lanyard. Long Live the King!......and, pass me that jelly doughnut.

My great aunt Luella (Maternal grandmother's sister) was married to Elvis Presley's cousin Vernon Presley. Doesn't really make me related to Elvis.

I recall the day he died very vividly too...we were on the Interstate headed to Estes Park, Colorado when it came on the radio. that was also the day my little brother's doll "Joey" lost his leg...I twisted it off in the back of the family truckster and threw it out the window.

My family and I were on vacation in Iceland and saw a picture of Elvis on the front page of the newspaper. As it was in Icelandinc, my parents could only guess what was the story.

We were on vacation too, in Pittsburgh visiting my uncle. It came on the TV and my cousin Sally swore and then started crying. I was 15 at the time.
