Default Cheap Lesson Learned - Just a Reminder

If it's raw and seems too good to be true, chances are it's a reprint/fake. Also, write down every booth/name you buy something from.

Bought a M101 Blank Back Ray Chapman yesterday at National for $25. Most everything else was real, or looked to be real in the cases (not accusing the dealer of fraud, I just didn't pickup anything else). I looked up an example of one online (painfully slow service) and PSA pricing (also painfully slow). The pricing lined up, but I missed a couple giveaways that it's a reprint. It was trimmed at the bottom, and I later learned that the reprint set has REPRINT on the front bottom. I didn't write down the booth number or name when I made the purchase. I had a buddy going to National today, but unfortunately the booth was either already packed up, or my buddy wasn't able to find it; I was going to see if he would issue a refund via PayPal and ship him the card back PWE.

It's a cheap mistake all thing's considered, and the crow I'm eating is cheaper than a stake, so it could be worse. But for future shows, I will be writing down every purchase detail. Don't get burned like I did.

Sorry about the Chapman. At least you didn't buy any "deep discounted" Dimaggio or Bonds autographs.

Kyle, FWIW, even though the word "reprint" is supposed to be in the bottom right-corner, it is also sometimes erased or otherwise obliterated. Here is one on ebay right now (with 9 bids to $54) that made it past the so-called experts:
