Default Looking for help: 1959 Sams Detroit Tigers

I picked these up the other day and can’t find anything about them. I am trying to find out if these were part of a set. The guy who sold them to me said he remembers getting these signed at Sam’s Department store located in downtown Detroit. I have been going to shows since the early 70’s and don’t remember ever seeing them before. Any body know anything about them?FF6BEFC0-589C-4FBB-BAB9-6F2AD86121E3.jpg

I would probably check the newspapers around that date for any ads or announcements just prior.

Same story here, been in Michigan in either Grand Rapids, Lansing or Detroit for almost 45 years and never saw one of those either. Sorry I can't be more help.

Default Sam's Cut Rate Store

I grew up in Detroit. While I can't help you with the picture cards, the store was housed in old Opera House on Woodward until 1966. The store was then moved to Randolph street (because of possible demolition around the Opera House) where it stayed in business until the 80's.

The remnant of the original Sams is still open. It just goes by Hot Sams now and sells just men's wear.

I work about 2 blocks away, but several ownership changes have happened over the years, they would not be helpful with info.

There are a number of similar issues here in the NY area. One that comes to mind is Mets that signed at a car dealer and if you got there in time you got your card signed by player. Seaver has a couple of these types of cards on his master checklist.hope this helps.
