Default T206 Basic HOF set and Backs Line, as far as I can go! I'm stopping. Thanks to all

Well after two years, I'm calling it done. I set out on a goal to build a basic backs line made up of HOFers, but just like the addictions that come along with working on the monster, I was compelled to push forward, so I filled in all series and factories (with the exception of Brown Lenox and BL 460). The OCD complusions took me further and I was able to finish off a basic HOF set too. I also included Hal Chase, Shag, and Fred Merkle, because I don't think a T206 group can be finished without them.

I justed wanted to thank you all for the help. Ted and many others have been a great source of info. Toby has helped me find a couple of the very difficult cards in the line, and Craig has been a huge help also. More than a few folks have also been helping me spot cards when they come for sale, and a few folks didn't bid on cards that I needed. The line has been a lot of fun and I have made some new friends here while working on it, so thanks to all.

It all started with the Lenox Johnson that I bought during the closing of cardtarget.com and the partial shares market. During the course of the building, I have sold off pretty much all of my childhood collection to fund the line. I was very lucky to have made a great buy when I was very young, and have put very little new money into the line (the wife is not a supporter and 2 kids under four prevent the addition of new money). I was always lucky enough to get gift cards for the holidays and I would buy cards with the money, so I have had plenty to sell over the last couple years.

Here are some details:
43 Cards
At least one each of the HOFers (excluding Plank and Wagner)
34 different backs (missing Brown Lenox and BL 460)
Special inclusions made for Shag (King of the SLers), Hal Chase (One of the stars of his era), and Fred Merkle (beautiful card of a great player that made a bad baseball mistake)

Anyway, thanks to all for the help (and putting up with my begging for cards from time to time) and the good times. This was more fun and way more stressfull than I expected. Here a couple of my favorite cards from the group, and the link to the group on photobucket. I am going to have to break the group up to cover some upcoming expenses, so I wanted you all to take a look at it all together. Sorry for the bad scans, it is the best I can do.

If you didn't need the $$,I'd say"don't do it Bob".
You put together a fantastic collection-anyone who collects T206 would have to agree.
Good luck on any future collecting goals...........
Sincerely,Clayton

Toby,
The Uzit Merkle and the BL 350 Evers both came from you. Those were two MAJOR cards for me on my way to knocking off the line.
Thanks for the help on those two. They will be staying in the group that I keep. Let me know if you have any T213's laying around.
Take care,
Bob

Great Job Bobby

I've really enjoyed watching you build the backs line over the past year. It is an awesome accomplishment - It's way kewl to see so many HOFer's and rare backs in one place Also, I've enjoyed building a friendship with you. Glad I could help you out some by purchasing your P42's - the SGC 70 Evers is still the highest graded card in my collection. I really hope your wife can hold on to her job so you can hold on to the cards for a while. But if it doesn't work out and you have to sell some of them, I have first dibs on the Red Hindu Duffy

Take Care My Friend and Always Best Regards,
Craig

The Merkle/Uzit was new to the hobby in 2006.

It is cool to see a card travel through hobby and land at a good home.
