Default Faceless Ball player - Any guesses as to who he is??

Posted By: chris

Won this photo, but haven't recieved it yet. It was dirt cheap and should be. Thought it might be fun to try and guess the team/player/photo origin etc.

Any clairvoyants out there?

It's a tie between Mark Clear and Mysterious Walker.

That looks like it could be Carl Mays in either 1919 or 1921 in a NYY home uniform. I got excited thinking that perhaps it was in a Boston uniform, but the socks and pinstripes don't match up with the years that he was in Boston.

Count the fingers, it kinda looks like Mordecai Brown.

The Cubs/Whales always had a logo on their jerseys, so it's not Mordecai. The photo looks like a famous shot of Three Finger so I can see how you would guess it was him.

The real challenge is trying to figure out who is holding the bat.

Rec'd it today and it is bigger than I thought. 10 by 6. Close inspection reveals a "P" on the hat. (and he has all 5 fingers on the right hand)happy.gif

I'm going to go with Claude Hendrix, playing for Pittsburgh in 1913. The uniform is close, and I think I've seen that ear somewhere before, most likely on a Hedrix card. I suppose we need someone to come forward with a more complete photo.

As anyone that doesn't know who it is will guess, it's either Joe Jackson, Ty Cobb or Honus Wagner. That's what they say on ebay anyway....
