Default Amos Strunk

Jeff,
I just noticed Collins-McCarthy wrongly thought a piece of the grandstand was strunk's ear!

Default Re that Amos Strunk photo...

1) It's one thing to have to wear flannel on a dirt field in 100 heat and humidity, but to need to do it with an itchy collar wrapping your neck up to your jawbone must be doubly uncomfortable. Then again, maybe it was early or late in the season. I feel bad for Amos in that pic. Looks like he could've used some pronation support in those cleats, too.

2) Did equipment managers exist at the time, or were ballplayers repsonsible for washing their own uniforms? Amos looks like he wore his cutting the grass, changing the oil and caddying 18 holes before game time. Teams took great pride in uniform design in those days, but were the uniforms ever cleaned and pressed regularly by the teams?

it looks like he also got his left sleeve caught in the lawnmower.

Must have been a cold day. He could at least have flapped down the collar, if he was too hot.

I just landed this terrific 1952 TYPE 1 Mickey Mantle by Don Wingfield. This well known image was used on many premiums during his career.

Default New Plate

I've seen these early Austrian plates in the past and loved them. I was very pleased to add this example to my collection.

Default Hornsby Gamer

Was lucky enough to pick up this Circa 1929/1930 Rogers Hornsby game used bat off Ebay. Bat is 36 inches in length and weighs 36.9 oz. and has a flared "Hornsby" type knob as well as vintage bat boy nails in the cracked handle and shows tons of serious use with cleat marks as well as deadwood on the backside.
