FRAUD in it's truest form.

Known as "phishing".

If you reply at all ... you are screwed.

DELETE IT and IGNORE IT.

Two rules for such emails:

To check on your eBay or PayPal status, do not go through links provided in email. Go to your web browser, type in the site's address ('www.eBay.com'), log on and check status. Through the email links, these scams are trying to get you to go to a false website.

Never feel rushed and always take your time. Do not hurry to 'fix things' asap as the email threatened to close your account in two seconds. If there is a legitimate problem (i.e. your credit card expired and you accidentally forgot to update), eBay and PayPal will always give you minimally days to update. Take your time, and see what's up.

In all cases they ask you to click on a link that looks legit - just look at where the link is actually sending you. If it is different from the "text" of the link, then it's a spoof.

I delete all emails like this without even checking. If ebay or Paypal really wants to suspend my account, sobeit.

What's so stupid about it is, why would the real eBay need me to tell them what my credit card number is? They've had and used it for two years. They know the number better than I do. If anything, I would have to ask them what my number is.

Forward the email to spoof@ebay.com - you'll get an automated message telling you whether it came from them. This one definitely didn't.

I get emails like this roughly every other day. It so heart warming to know eBay cares so much about my security. I take runscott's approach: I delete them without checking.

They must not like you too much. I get about 1-2 EVERY darn day.....I never open them anymore and just scroll down, highlighting all emails from places I don't know, and do one fell swoop of a delete... whether it's ebay, paypal, penile enlargement, girls with 3 boobs, or whatever........later
