Default Some Cool 1972 Errors...

1972errors.jpg

I was going through my myriad 1972 Topps cards today in preparation to offer a complete set for trade (check the B/S/T section to find it) and I ran across these three errors. Pretty cool stuff.

Sparky Lyle has a wet sheet transfer (WST) from the back of his card splashed across the front of it.
And Dave Giusti and Scipio Spinks have blank backs. I love this stuff!!

Honestly...if I had pulled one of those cards out of a pack it would have been the first to go in the trash.

I honestly don't get the love for these cards.

Back in the early '80's I bought a complete set of '72's from a friend who had purchased it originally thru mail order. In going thru them I found this 1 card w/ a yellow back---the only one I've ever seen.

Nice.

I did pull one from a pack once. A 1971 blank back. Unfortunately, MIA right now.

They are definitely a niche collecting interest, but I have a blast with it. Every one is unique. The best part is that for many sellers misprints are considered defects and are deeply discounted. I've picked these gems out of junk boxes and commons piles over the years:

That Harry "Gunboat" Gumpert card has one of my favorite first line bios on the back of any card

"Harry Gumpert did not set the baseball world on fire with his pitching last year - he was not too good on occassion...".

Thanks for the support guys!
