Default 1956 Mantle SGC 96 MINT - Fair Price

I need help/expertise.

I have a collector friend who has hit a rough patch. He has a 56 Mantle SGC 96 MINT card that I love and he knows I want it. I just want to offer a fair price (win-win situation) for the card to help him out (and me). HELP !! Based on my knowledge, I am guessing somewhere between 4500 - 6000. HELP

I'd call it your run of the mill 9 (LOL), not a blazer 9

Default Can anyone help ?

Please, any insight would be helpful. I do not want to take advantage of my friend in need. I've been able to research past PSA 9 auctions, but not SGC MINT auctions. What should I offer for a win-win ?? 4K, 5K, 6K, 7K ?

Default Low Ball

I have a collector friend who has hit a rough patch.--Perfect opportunity to low-ball him (lol). You might also want to check on the back, the white backs are more rare but I don't know how much that impacts the $. So the high $'s listed above could be a WB and the lower ones GB, not sure if/how VCP differentiates between the two

Default Thanks All

I do know the card well, it's history, White vs Grey yada yada yada ... I've essentially ignored SGC pricing and followed PSA as a gauge.

Just based on VCP, the economy, and the fact that
it's not a "high end" 9, I would say $5600-$5800 would be
a win-win. And I would not discount the fact that it's
in an SGC holder if I were considering buying the card.

Good luck & please post a scan if/when you get it!

Default Got it

Thanks All for the valued info. I also looked up the cards auction history on www.vintagecardprices.com. I paid $5800 and I'll post scans when I can. I'm a Nolan Ryan collector and needed the Mantle advice. Just wanted to make sure that I would be able to sell it down the road.

Default Fair

I think $5800 was a very fair deal for both of you. Congrats!

I'm going to turn around and sell it, just trying to figure out the best value. Looks like BMW Cards sold their 12K or B/O 56 Mantle SGC as it's gone from EBay.
