Default Considering an OJ St. Louis Sub Set...want opinions!

Is this a good idea with the enormity of the overall set? I live in St. Louis, so collecting a group of OJ's of players who played in my hometown in the infancy of the game really seems interesting. Can you guys offer any constructive advice on who to start with, or who are the toughest players to aquire? Ive done SOME research on the cards, and some seem a bit pricey for my situation, but Im not putting myself on a timer to complete the subset. All thoughts and opinions are appreciated!

Brandon--I think it would be an interesting set to work on. On one hand you have the perennial power of the American Association, the St Louis Browns. Their cards are not difficult and you have the fun of collecting the great Browns Champs subset, representing the 1886 Champions and including HOFer Charles Comiskey. On the other hand you get to collect the short lived 1888 St Louis Whites of the Western Association. These cards are a little scarcer, but certainly not rarities. If you embark on this task be sure to pick up a copy of the Old Judge book that Joe Gonsowski, Richard Masson and myself wrote. This is not meant to be a shameless plug; I think it will make the task easier and more enjoyable.
Good Luck!

I think it's a great idea. It connects you to your roots.
I collect all baseball related items (mainly cards, cabinets) of my hometown, Buffalo N.Y.
I have enjoyed the pursuit and it's always neat when a new item shows up unexpectedly.
