Yea very nice Mantles. The color on that 1960 makes it look like it was just pulled from a pack yesterday.

Thanks-- yes, that is what blew me away on the 1960 card. Pulsing vibrant color in hand, bright white borders, no PD like so many, and a focused Mick

Wow, pretty much all of them look straight from the pack! What a haul!

MattyC,

Now that is a nice batch of Micks. The 60 Mantle really pops when you look at it. Hard to imagine any better color and clarity on any card even a 9. That 53 Bowman is a real keeper and that 54 Bowman has got to be under graded for sure. Congrats.

Two thumbs up on buying the cards there. Hank looks 8 to me. And the focus on that Ryan is insane. As if that card didn't have enough in Topps or OPC to make it impossible to find a nice one, the image if often a tad bit blurry.

MattyC,

BAM!!! Not a homerun but a Grand Slam Homer with that 58 Mantle! I cannot find anything off on the centering. Looks to be perfect centering. Wow!

Default Added over the summer: two old-label SCD's

...Got lucky and added some centered ancient old old SCD-graded 1952 Topps to the glacial-paced dream collection of centered 1952 Topps......at the rate I'm finding centered 52's , my granddaughters will still be working on it , long after I've rolled snake-eyes.

..The subgrade for " Centering" on the Hank Sauer is "8.5" which is damn high praise indeed , coming from the old curmudgeons at the old Beckett .

Cole,

Great pickup! Aside from this one and the portrait, what's the 3rd card you have so far?

For one reason or another, I am prone to drift and lose focus but I am back on my Teddy Ballgame focus and plan to stay on point for a while. The photo is crisp, unlike the somewhat blurry scan but you get the idea.

Default Upgrade for mental health reasons.....

...the outstanding registration and focus and centering on my new one just beckoned me like the Sirens flirting with Odysseus....since I wasn't tied to a mast , I succumbed .

...at least now you can make out the numbers on Mickey's bats....The old-label BGS card ( subgrades: 9 , 3 , 6 , 5 ) looks much better in person than in my scan---Beckett slabs don't do so good in antique first-generation scanners...must get one with that " CCD " thing I keep hearing about..

.

This was part of the packaging for a 1963 Transogram item. It included a rectangle image of Mays and Mantle. I'm not sure if the intention was for them to be cut out--I don't think there were dotted lines to cut along and it is backed with corrogated cardboard--but the original owner thought it was a card and it reminds very much of the Topps Giant Standups. Either way, the image on this slightly oversized card is striking and I could not be happier to have it in my set.

Picked up these two recently. I have gone a while without buying anything and decided to start again. Am trying to focus on lower grade with decent centering and nice eye appeal.
I think I did well with these two:

Gorgeous Robinsons! My question is, how the hell did that '54 get a 4 from PSA? What am I not seeing?

...any wrinkle on the front , no matter how hard it is to find ( for us ) is an automatic technical "4"...there's a lot of beautiful "4"'s out there..

Thanks! I'm really really happy with it.
There is a light wrinkle along his upper lip. It is a beautiful card and that brings the grade down.

You guys have opened my eyes to the potential hidden in any PSA 4 slab. The '54 Jackie is a great card. The '57 Mantle is the best centering I have ever seen on that card. Excellent additions and probably easy on the wallet. Well played all around.
