Default BINGO....Rob

It gets tougher ........

Name at least two former Mets pitchers that went on to pitch No-Hitters (or Perfect games) with other teams ?

And, what is especially coincidental about one of these events ?

Mike Scott (for the Astros) and Hideo Nomo (for the Red Sox), also pitched no-no's, after leaving the Mets.

Do you recall what was extra-special that day (7/18/99) when David Cone pitched a Perfect game at Yankee Stadium ?

Jeff

You got it....it was Yogi Berra Day.

And, at an interview after the Perfect game, David Cone said he threw 88 pitches.
Just a coincidence, or maybe the "8's" were in honor of Yogi

So what player was in the lineup for Cone's perfect game, AND another perfect game?

Several of the players in the Yankees' lineup for Cone's perfecto, were in the lineup for David Wells' gem, the prior season.

The Grateful Dead played one of their best shows of the decade at Alpine Valley in East Troy, WI. Hard to beat the post drums second set:

China Doll>
Dear Mr. Fantasy>
Hey Jude (reprise)>
Throwing Stones>
Sunshine Daydream
Encore: Quinn the Eskimoe

Edited to add: OOoops. I though you wrote 7/18/89.

You may be thinking of Paul O'Neill, who was in the Yankee line-up for Wells' and Cone's perfectos, and also in the line-up for the Reds, for Tom Browning's masterpiece.

It was Yogi Berra Day and he caught the first pitch but isn't it significant who threw it to him?

Default Padres futility...............

The San Diego Padres have never had a pitcher throw a no-hitter since their inception in 1969. They've also never had a player hit for the cycle. Pretty sad, when you consider that a few players have hit for the cycle twice, Bobby Doerr being one.

Tim

I stand corrected, the Mets are not the only team without a No-Hitter to their credit.

If it's any consolation, San Diego can take credit for Don Larsen and David Wells, both of whom graduated
Point Loma High School in San Diego.

Thanks for posting,

TED Z
