Default Signed T206 Walter Johnson - ebay - Stolen Scan

http://www.ebay.com/itm/1910-T206-Wa...item3cbf87b1fe

Although I haven't been able to go to my bank this morning, I am pretty sure this card still sits safely in my safety deposit box. The scan appears to be stolen from the initial ebay auction of this card a few years ago. My cleaner, better scan, is below.

Anyone want to help me get this one taken down?

I sent seller a message. I am sure he will get many more from other board members. I am always concerned when a seller has one big ticket item and the rest of his items are crap.

I asked him why he listed this and how he bought this card when it's sitting in someone elses safety deposit box. I just don't understand why people do this.

The seller responded to my question by saying that he has owned this card for 10 years and he can take a picture of him holding the card in his hand if need be. Then said he was going to report me to ebay for questioning his item.

Gee Paul, from that last post I think you better check your safe deposit box because the seller says he can provide a picture of him holding the card.

Perhaps Paul (T206Collector) has multiple personalities and doesn't realize that one of his personalities is selling a card that his other personality owns...

What happens if Paul wins the card in auction and his other personality doesn't ship it to him? Who does Paul go to?

Has anyone "reported the item" to ebay via the link provided on the item description page?

I have reported the item as a fraudulent listing. I also emailed the "seller" and informed him of this, and that I was going to local authorities in PA.

The real test of this seller is if he can name the rest of the contents of my safety deposit box!

Unfortunately for him, schizophrenia is not one of my mental issues. And it is not one of my mental issues either. Nor mine. Or mine.

I like how he watermarked the image in the lower left corner.

What a moron!

Why doesn't someone just bid $5,000 dollars on the card? Then, when the seller can't produce it, give him a Negative Feed back, complain to eBay and file charges with his local authorities?

He wrote to not hesitate to ask for more scans. Wondering how he'll do that so I asked for a scan of the back.

Thanks - I'll be saving that nicer scan, just in case my coin-selling business goes belly-up some day.

Sad thing the high bidder will get a copy of a card in a fake holder with a reprinted label. Definitely the holders are different with the same #.

We've never factored in that maybe we knows Johnson. He would probably tell someone he got it signed last week at the philly show.

Can he still be charged with attempt to commit fraud? Clearly he was going to send a fake or make a bogus insurance claim.

I emailed him for a scan of the back. I told him if it was a "Broad Lennox" back it'd be worth a lot of money...

Ok, I guess I'll bid $1K on it to see what happens...

Edited to add: Someone already beat me to $1K. I bid $2K. Hey, let's shoot the bidding on this to $50K or even $100K..... anybody game?

Ask him if he has one of these, which by the way indicates that this is a Piedmont-backed card. No sure where he got the Polar Bear idea.

Bid the card up! We can play back and forth... there's 9 days til the auction ends. That'll be one way to bring some attention to that listing. I've got to believe that fleabay would monitor to see if anything sells for $50K+ or if the bidding gets crazy on something...

It'd be fun to get more people in on the bidding so it looks like a lot of people are interested in it.... now watch it be Paul waiting for us to play this game and expect us to pony up the cash for it when the auction is over...

Heck, if the price is right, I'll make sure he does actually have the card. But it won't have a Polar Bear back in any event!

Here's his reply to my question asking if I could pick up the card and pay with a cashier's check:

"Yea no problem! You cvan meet me where I work I am a Police Lieutenant we can meet at the district I will be in uniform! But I am sorry it must me cash only unless you have a bank we can drive to that is in my area that will cash it right there! No offense to you but I have seen plenty of fake cashiers checks to! Thanks for your interest and good luck!"

Call the Lock Haven, PA police department and tell them there is a guy pretending to be a police lieutenant and selling an expensive item that he does not own. I bet they will be interested.

At least the coin could be a case of selling it, then buying it off the APMEX website to ship it. Instant flip on profit. Yet I would think someone willing to pay that much would do research first and find they could just buy it directly from APMEX.

It's strange this guy has some furniture for sale in one of his ebay auctions where he says it's okay to come over and look at it. You would think he wouldn't want anyone to know where he lives.
