Default Visited Bob Feller Musuem

Went to Des Moines IA to a Motley Crue/Alice Cooper concert Friday and stopped at the Bob Feller Museum in Van Meter IA Saturday on the way home.

I went with 2 friends and 1 of the other guys bought a Tony Oliva auto ball. The lady there loved us. Before we left we donated between $70-$100 to the museum besides our 3 items purchased. I donated $50, Monte donated $20, and I did not see how much Henry donated but I seen him hand her money and tell her it was a donation. Neither one of my friends are baseball fans at all, the only reason Monte bought the ball was because when he was a kid Tony used to hunt on his Grampas land and stay at their hunting lodge back in his early playing days. Tony married a girl from a little town 30 miles away from me.

When I bought the 2 autos right before I left when I went to pay for them the lady told me they were $10 each. I said no and showed her the sign saying they are $20 each. Them she TOLD me they are only $10 each for me. So I gave her a $20 for the autos and them laid another $20 on the counter told her it was another donation and we all left. I would highly recommend stopping if in the Des Moines area.

Here are a few pics from the trip. Since Large Ass Herzog was busy I brought Wade "slightly trimmed" Boggs with.
1) Our first gas stop was in Blue Earth MN so I figured we better stop and say hello to the 55' Jolly Green Giant while there.
2) A picture of the outside of the Wells Fargo Arena before we attended the concert. Everyone had a great time at the concert from what I remember.
3) Wade "slightly trimmed" Boggs sitting on the cool brick work on the north side of Bob Feller Museum.
4) Brick work with out Wade.
5) Nice autos I bought the smaller card is 3 1/2" X 5 1/2".

I can see mixing Motley Crew and Bob Feller, but Wade Bogs is no Fat Ass Herzog.

I am probably in the minority on this but I would like a section with "trip reports". I would like to read stories about the game, card shop/show, baseball related museum, or any baseball related activity we as baseball fans go to and see some pictures.

How was Cooper? I know I was disappointed when I heard he was getting rid of Orianthi. But Nita Strauss from "the Iron Maidens" is a pretty solid replacement... She's quite the looker too...

Cooper was great with all his costume changes. Nita Strauss played a short very good solo, that girl can hammer on and pull off(guitar terms) with the best, very fast and smooth.

Never been a fan of Motley Crue but they put on a great show also. Between Alice and Motley they played for 3 1/2 hours. I only got the end of the opening act The Raskins. To me they have a very similar style to Motley Crue so with out the "show" to go with it I didn't really care for them.

Orianthi is an incredible guitar player, but one of my main knocks on her, was that she often shredded a bit too much in her original stuff. But recently I've noticed a lot of patience, and perhaps a bit more taste in her playing. Leaving Cooper might be a good thing. Can't wait to hear some new original stuff from her..

Nita is also a quite talented. However, I've never heard anything original from her, so it's hard for me to critique her on a writing level..

Skills are skills, and both of them definitely got 'em... Along with looks. Ori's cute, but Nita is damn sexy....

Damon Johnson, one of his guitar players before Ori, is also a personal favorite of mine. More as a songwriter, than a guitar player though... Don't get me wrong, dude can play too, but I loved the stuff he wrote with Brother Cane... He also notably wrote the song "Just feel better", for Santana and Steven Tyler. He was also in the final incarnation of Thin Lizzy.

Vince has always picked top notch talent for his backing band...

As far as Cooper goes. I saw them once at "The Taste of Cleveland" festival about 15 years ago. Great show. top notch entertainment. Good to hear he's still got it....
