Default New old member intro, or reintro after 12 years (putting my T206 band back together)

Hello all,

I wanted to take a second to reintroduce myself! Looks like my last post was January of 2012. I’m happy to see that a lot of folks I used to deal with on the BST are still here, but very sad to read about Ted Z being gone. I had a number of deals with Ted back in day and think my last transaction with him was with him trading me 20 Morgan dollars for something, but can’t remember what!

After a long time away from the game, I’m getting back to cards, which truly make me happy! I had to sell my lifelong collection (which i really hated after 30 years of buying, selling and consolidating into T206’s) back in 2011 and 12 during a divorce. After three moves, a new wife and birthing The Chicken Sandwich between, I am back on the T206 train. I put together 100 or so post war cards over the last year to wet my feet and get some of the cards I loved as a kid and remember buying and trading for at shows. I stuck to the HOF and rookie cards as I don’t have the funds to go after the guys I’ve hardly heard of!

I would love to be able to put back together my HOF Backs Line (plus Shag and Merkle!!!) like I had consolidated my collection into and the complete back run of Eddie Collins T206.

I sold most of my T206 HOF Backs and Eddie Collins back run here, so hoping some may still be around and you all are tired of them and would move them back my way. Unfortunately, they all seem to be like 10+ times what I sold them for.

If anyone wants to help me put the band back together, let me know. Here is a little list of what will be the most difficult.

Uzit~ Merkle SGC 40
Lenox~ Johnson HAC SGC 40
BL 350~ Evers SGC 50, Collins (think it was a 40 or 50)
Tolstoi~ Cobb Red Port SGC 40
Carolina Brights~ Chance Yellow SGC 30
EPDG~ Johnson Port SGC 40
Hindu Brown~ MarttyPort SGC 40
AB 350 No Frame~ Matty Dark SGC 40, deepest bright color ever!
Piedmont 42~ Cy Young
Drum~ Willis SGC A (trimmed up but all I could afford then!)

I would absolutely love to get some of the original guys back together! I started with the Lenox Johnson, last time. That card, Uzit Merkle, Hindu Matty port, Tolstoi Cobb and the BL Evers and Collins line were the heart and soul of my box. I never got to get a BL 460 last time as I had to sell, just one card short of completion, and was close to finalizing the deal to get it done too.

Anyway, happy to be part of the N54 board again and looking forward to doing some buying, selling and trading (I have starting adding some trading stock). I also love raw G~VGEX HOFers, Chase and the short print/traded kinda cards and portraits.

Thanks, happy to be back and looking forward to some B/S/T action,

Bob

Also, I still haven’t won the lottery to buy it all back!

I have to figure out how to post pic’s again, as my old photobucket account is long gone, and it had the pics of all my cards. The only two I can see from my old posts are the Cobb Tolstoi and AB 350 Matty.

Welcome back Bob! I wish you the best of luck in your effort to get the band back together.

Any chance this was your Chance?

That’s him alright!! I loved it because it looked above grade and the best part, with the I was able to put the trio together in the box alphabetically:

Broad Leaf Evers
Carolina Brights Chance
Cycle 460 Tinker

I also had a Lenox Yellow SGC 20 or 30 but let that one go to buy something else for the line!

Happy to be back and great to see one of the guys again!

Thanks,
Bob

Welcome back and best of luck getting the Band back together. There's a Merkle Uzit on eBay, PSA 2 so probably not your old one. Think of it as Brian Johnson replacing Bon Scott, still great but different.

Damn, I think I got 2k for mine!
My Tolstoi Cobb brought around $1200 on the BST here, so it kinda broke my heart to see the PSA 4 sell for like 24k at REA last weekend.

That’s a big reason why I’ve put together about 20 raw G~VGEX HOFers in a little old cigar box. I really love my raw guys, and really looking forward to adding to that stack!

Looking forward to adding some pics when I figure that out.

Thanks for the heads up,
Bob
