Default Any info on this 1926 World Series Pin-Badge?

Posted By: Jon Canfield

I purchased this 1926 World Series medallion about 10 years ago from a man (who at that time was 86 years old). He told me he attended the World Series as a kid and purchased the badge for about 10 cents. I fell in love with it, and was hoping someone could tell me something about it. All I know is what I've said - its from the 1926 series! Any info would be greatly appreciated! I have checked over the last 10 years and haven't come across another - don't know if its scarce or if I'm just lookin in the wrong places!

It's a 'stadium pin.' In various forms, hese have been sold at stadiums for many years. The most common kinds are those 1940s-60s disc pinbacks with pictures of players like Mantle and Maris. A small minority of these have a very similar ribbon, chain and charms like yours. Most have no ribbon, etc.

I have not seen yours before (which doesn't in and of itself prove anything, as I don't collect pins), though it's fair to assume that it's rare or scarce. The significance of it being purchased at the World Series is obvious.
