Default New Guy

Hello Gentlemen (and ladies?)

I was recommended to join by Mark Zentkovich, a fellow Redskins fan & collector and frequent trading partner on Trading Bases.

I've been collecting cards in general since about 1978, stopped in 1985 or so (skipped the junk wax era) and returned in late 2003. I'm a baseball, football and hockey set builder, but also have a Redskins (and casual Capitals) team collections, 50+ baseball player collections mostly from the 70's & 80's, plus Priest Holmes football, and Sergei Fedorov hockey. Also like extinct league cards (USFL, XFL) etc., cards about the space program, and all kinds of other stuff. I blog about (newer) cards etc. HERE.

But what brings me here is my T205 NY Giants team set.

My late father had a hunting cabin with a few fellows in PA and there was a team photo of the 1909 Giants hanging above the wood stove. I wanted it. It is now reframed and hanging in my house. One of the original backing boards was a Broadway playbill. I framed that too. See it HERE.

Anyway, I started a project to catalog the players, stats, and teams from that era and got some reprint cards. Made a 1909 Giants binder project out of it.

When I came back to collecting, I eventually ascended to a level where I could actually find the real cards of the guys in the photo. I liked the T205s a lot better than the 206's so I did those. I'm now down to six or so.

The link for my list is in my sig. Thanks in advanced for your advice and assistance in finishing this team set and moving on to the next!

Welcome aboard. Mark is a great guy and trading partner as well. I'm also working on the T205 Giants team set. I have 8 more to go and that includes the Mathewson. I hope to frame the team set when it's complete. Best of luck on your journey.
