Default Strong Price for Koufax

Been a bit busy the last few days, but haven't seen anybody talking about the ML auction. I know the '51 Mantle was the big $ card, but $35k for a Koufax PSA 9 is nearly $15k more than the card has ever gone for, and equals the price paid for the PSA 10.

Any thoughts as to why the card nearly doubled in value over the highest recorded previous sale of the card in a PSA 9 holder?

There sure were some anomalously high prices paid in that auction; could be some deep pocketed collectors all happened to come to that particular party.

All it ever takes is two to drive a price up way beyond prior levels-- heck an 84D Mattingly PSA 10 hit 1k on ebay a few weeks ago.

Seems everywhere we look lately, important cards of legendary players are selling and selling well. Hopefully everyone is tapped from ML so I can pick a few cards off at some other places!

Im sitting on the sidelines for the time being, just taking in the closing prices on some of these auction. Post War HOF superstar RC's are off the charts right now. Its really fascinating to watch the number that some of these cards are bringing. A PSA 7 Clemente RC closed last night on Mile High for $6500. That was what 8's were bringing a year ago.
