Default Opinion on date engraved on trophy...

I am doing some research on a trophy that I have just acquired and I am truly not sure about the date that has been engraved on this trophy.

At first glance it looks like 1939, but when you look more closely at the characteristics of the first individual number 9...and then the last number, you will notice the slight differences in both. The year may be 1938.

Please keep in mind that this trophy is believed to have originated from Mexico? Maybe? Can't be certain.

I will add further photos of the trophy once I learn how to put them in the right format to be able to post them, and will add details about the story behind this trophy.

Thank you in advance for all the valued input.
Lucky.

Absolutely 1939. Difference between the two probably a result of the cast number not being held in place tightly. Look at the variation of the "L"s

You may be right...but the details in the numbers that I am making reference to is in the top circles. You will notice a straight line in the first circle and then in the second circle(last number), there is an obvious closed loop, instead of a straight line that extends downward, like in the first number 9.

A tad confusing...

Lucky - Can you post a close up pic of the date that is more clear? I cannot tell from the pic you posted. Thanks.

Hello Joe,

I will definitely post more clear photos. The trophy is presently in transit and I will post as soon as it is in my possession.
